Tyler World War veteran honored by Britain
Tyler July 24. Louis Dam sk er, a Tyler World War veteran, received a British acknowledgment letter for a defense plan to repel motorized units invading the coast. The plan proposed a tank barrier with elevated guns, making armor vulnerable to land batteries, and the letter bore a 10 Downing Street postmark from E. M. Watson writing for Prime Minister Churchill.

Four young Britishers staying with Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Armstrong in Willow Springs Missouri during the war say the United States is “swell.” Their only complaint is the neon whistle of the fire department that makes them scramble to air raid shelters.
