Rescue planes searched the rugged Alaska coastline seeking a missing Canadian Pacific Airlines DC-4 with 38 aboard. Pair Swept Over Falls in Yosemite

Eric Yeoman a 25 year old Alameda high school physiology teacher and his wife Norma were picnicking at Waterwheel Falls when they were swept over the 340 foot drop. Yeoman survived claiming it felt like a roller coaster while Norma sustained serious head and back injuries after tumbling down the fall. Campers saw the two plunge and bounce along ledges during a 30 second ride in a 28 story equivalent fall.

Stolen Jewelry Identified Ties City Arrests to West Coast Theft

Jewelry seized July 12 after a counterfeiting arrest has been identified as loot from a West Coast theft. Milton Merriell and Mercedes Callinicos, both in custody, were questioned by Los Angeles detectives who shared photos and a long investigation list. Boy’s Death Fails To Stop His Thanks

A nine year old from Compton California sent thanks to Sheriff Paul Gaither after receiving a Junior Deputy badge. The gesture arrived in Amarillo by the boy’s mother while returning from Virginia for Terry Bryant’s funeral, as the child had died from a brain ailment.
