Home Made Electric Chair Executes Two in New Mexico
In Santa Fe New Mexico the first use of a home made electric chair successfully executed Tom Johnson a 43 year old black man and Ban Garduno a 40 year old Spanish American. The executioner was R E Owens from the Oklahoma state prison. Johnson was convicted of slaying Angelina Jaramillo an 18 year old Santa Fe girl after an alleged assault last fall. Garduno was sentenced to death for poisoning his stepson this spring and resided in Truchas New Mexico.

A 28 year old Los Angeles salesman on a hospital cot in Fort Worth described a maddening chase across the Southwest for his wife Marie and their infant daughter. He traced sightings from El Centro to Phoenix to El Paso and Big Spring, finally losing all trace near Big Spring.
