Lift of 31-year cottonseed import ban eyed by U.S. official

In San Antonio on July 20 a plan to lift a 31 year old import ban on cottonseed from Mexico was sent to Secretary Claud Wickard. The move follows a meeting of oil mill representatives from both countries with U.S. and Mexican pink bollworm officials. Mexican oil interests oppose removal of the quarantine though they say cottonseed supplies are tight. Manuel Alcazar, pink boll worm chief, joined U. S. interests in the request to end the quarantine.
