Fifty Five CCC Camps Active in Texas This Summer
CCC director James J. McEntee announced 55 camps including a private forest camp at Alto and a national forest camp at Center will operate in Texas in the three months starting July 1. The program aims to employ 16 000 Texas youths and 1 500 war veterans with 11 000 Texans placed in state work across erosion control forestimprovement parks metropolitan and county projects and wildlife and reclamation work. In July alone 4 187 Texans may enroll to replace workers who left for other jobs or finished terms. Texas camps include soil conservation sites at Perr yton Memphis Littlefield and Lamesa.

Inland Built Schooner Recalled as Ark in Maine Tale
In Waterboro Maine neighbors nicknamed Josiah Swett Noah for building an 1818 schooner with his son William on Mt Ossipee far inland. The ark took two years to build and was hauled by fifty yoke of oxen to the sea. The Waterborough launched at Kennebunk Landing February 20 to a cheering crowd.
