Pioneer Miami Minister J. W. Whatley Dies at 84
The Rev. J. W. Whatley, 84, longtime Panhandle pastor at Canadian and Miami, died at his Miami home after a lingering illness. A Confederate veteran and Masonic member, he came from Alabama in 1851 and is survived by his widow and several grandchildren. Funeral at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Miami Baptist Church. Burial by Masonic lodge.
