Steel Strike Closes Lakes Steel Plant in ECORSE

About 200 pickets blocked the rear entrance of Lakes Steel Corp in ECORSE Michigan halting a shift of 6000 workers. Management called it an illegal wildcat strike by a small minority of the Steel Workers Organizing Committee. The plant shut at 8 PM pending a contract vote due tomorrow at 2 PM, union officials deeming it the best in the steel industry. SWOC pledges to seek early return to work within 24 hours.
