Washington July 14 AP Senator Vandenberg Republican said President Truman and Republican Congress leaders agree no special session will be held this fall.
After a Congressional Big Six meeting with Mr. Truman, Army officials seized a 32 by 2 by 6 inch micropositioner found in Amarillo. Officers said the device is an Army property component used in aircraft systems and may be traceable to War Assets Administration.
The Senate Judiciary Committee voted 7 to 6 to indefinitely postpone a resolution by Sen. Kem calling for an inquiry into the Justice Department over alleged vote frauds in Truman’s home district. The subcommittee said further probes would be fruitless and politically harassing.
Greek forces claim to have routed an invasion by about 1,000 Albanian guerrillas near Konitsa. Government sources say reinforcements drove fighters back toward the border amid heavy fighting around St Nicholas. Athens reports 3,100 more arrests of leftists, bringing total detentions since Wednesday to nearly 6,000.
SOUTH KINGSTOWN July 14 Democratic National Committee executive director Gael Sullivan was fined 100 dollars and costs after pleading nolo contendere to a reduced charge of reckless driving stemming from a car accident the night before the Fourth of July. He had originally faced drunken driving charges and was released on 300 dollars bail after a brief jail stay.
Investigation of personnel and promotion practices at the fire department began today as acting City Manager N. V. Moss and Personnel Director Clifford Davis seek records and plan talks with Fire Chief Edward R. Wilson. Sixty three firefighters signed a petition accusing him of inefficiency and mismanagement and seeking his dismissal.
Francis Bell, 45, an oil company worker from Odessa, was struck by seven bullets from a 38 caliber pistol on Saturday night and was reported recovering. Police held a 61-year-old man for investigation as officials described a possible love triangle motive.

An underground link belt unloader at Burrus Panhandle Elevators in East Amarillo tested with a wheat car, unloading into a conveyor system and into tall storage bins. The unit, rated for one car every five to six minutes, doubles unloading speed and will serve both Burrus elevators as the system is fine tuned.
James C. Arnold, 21, jailed on robbery by assault charges after allegedly robbing the T-Bone Grill of $105. The suspect, living at 1102 North Lincoln, allegedly shoved employee Hettie Burrow, 505 North Lincoln, and fled in a chain of taxi transfers to a North Fillmore cafe and a North East Eighth Avenue nightclub before arrest. He faced transfer to Potter County jail slated for that afternoon.
The estate of Mrs Princes C McLoughlin yields about 15000 to Amarillo College and 15000 to the Children’s Home, with 9000 to the Preventorium, based on a 102791 appraisal filed in Potter County court. The will also provides a Frances C McLoughlin Fund loan for girls. residuary clauses allow pro rata shares if value exceeds estimates. Executors and appraisers named include W F Nix as executor and Hugo Loewenstern, W F Van Shaw, Royce Gant as appraisers.
A man of unknown race died today after jumping or falling from the 86th floor of the Empire State Building, landing on a setback on the 21st floor. He becomes the 14th victim to die from a plunge from the world’s tallest structure.
The Senate approved a four billion dollar income tax reduction bill by 60 to 32, sending it to the White House for potential veto. Three senators were absent Wagner Tobey and Thomas as noted. House already cleared the bill by about three to one.
Two former US Army sergeants faced preliminary hearings in Pittsburgh and Chicago on charges of taking secret Los Alamos records. Alexander Van der Luft, 23, was freed on $10,000 bond and Earnest D. Wallis, 34, received a similar bond. Justice Department had recommended $19,000.
