Fraud Jaunt Nets Man Two-Year Term
Charles Wheeler, 58, a former Texas convict, received a two year prison sentence after pleading guilty to cashing fraternal organization checks on a cross country trip that netted about 435000. Wheeler testified he traveled nationwide after leaving a Texas penitentiary in 1932, using membership buttons to cash small checks. He asked the court to take custody of his two children.
