Zimmerly Sets World Record for Light Airplanes

D S Barney Zimmerly claimed a new world non stop distance record for light airplanes with a 1500 mile flight from Browns ville Texas to Winnipeg Manitoba in 16 hours. He beat the previous mark by 753 miles flying mostly through clouds and fog after departing Brownsville at 2 45 am Sunday and landing at 6 45 pm local time.

Two Die in Liquor Raid at Chidester

In Chidester Arkansas Walter Patterson forty challenged officers including Marshal E R Marsh Deputy Sheriff John Pruitt and Constable Luther Meeks during a raid on Patterson and his brother Albert on bootlegging charges. Patterson grabbed Marshs pistol and killed him before Meeks fatally shot Patterson. Albert Patterson was jailed on bootlegging charges.

House Quorum Lacking For Fifth Time In Special Session

Austin July 8 Twenty members short of a quorum the Texas House failed yet again to organize for business during the third special session. Eighty members answered roll call, while sergeant at arms Joe White searched for absentees and telegrams went to missing members. The Senate met with 24 members and elected a new chaplain Rev Randolph Clark Ranger to replace Rev Wm H Doss who resigned due to illness.

Lindbergh Speaks On Wife Silence In LA Arrival

Colonel Lindbergh and his wife Anne Morrow arrived in Los Angeles aboard the Falcon from Kingman Arizona.
