Tomorrow night Amarillo hosts the first Pure God Show and Industrial Exposition with doors at 7:30. A local Amarillo girl will be crowned queen of the exposition with a 65 person royal court. The Potter County Federated Women's clubs oversee the court scene. More than twenty booths will display and offer samples during opening night. Afternoon sessions run 3 to 5 pm daily from Tuesday, with night sessions at 7:30 pm through Saturday. Admission is 10 and 15 cents.
A Panhandle train carried seventeen cars of wheat and eighteen cars of oil to Amarillo last Thursday. Additional wheat from Pampa White Deer and Cuyler totaled about forty cars. Oil from Panhandle is sent to the Reece Allen refinery in Amarillo while wheat heads to Wichita Falls and Gulf points.
Twenty five people were injured when a bridge in Brownsville Pennsylvania collapsed sending pedestrians about thirty feet onto brick pavements. Injured were taken to local hospitals as rescue crews responded to the disaster.
East St. Louis July 5 A railway switchman James Karl Cummings 33 is credited with rediscovering a method to harden copper once used by ancient Egyptians. He receives 1.5 million dollars from a Detroit copper company after testing the formula. He plans to buy a home in University City and later teach the process in Montana for six months.
President Coolidge’s son Calvin Jr was operated on at Walter Reed Army Hospital to treat septic poisoning. Dr Charles W Richardson said the operation accomplished all they wished as he left the operating room after the procedure begun earlier tonight.
The Producers and Refiners Corporation closes a deal with Mayor E S Blasdel P H Fuqua and P H Landergin to drill two wells on the southeast quarter of Section 107 Block 5 I and G N Carson county. The lease pays one eighth production overriding plus the owners share and a net on forty acres with drilling to start at once. Prairie Oil and Gas owns seventy percent of PB and R stock. Dixon Oil announces a new location by W W Mellroy for northeast quarter of Section 14 Block Y Hutchinson county with drilling to begin soon.
Austin July 6 A verdict for 381 654 in favor of the Texas company against the International Great Northern Railway was handed down by District Judge Calhoun. The case alleged breach of contract over fuel oil purchases. Attorneys for the I G N gave notice of motion for a new trial.
Hutchinson Kansas July 6 Mayor Cheek a Hutchinson carpenter was sentenced to life imprisonment for the slaying of Patrolman Sherman Monroe. Cheek spread guilty after Monroe attempted to arrest him.
Amarillo Real Estate Board plans immediate action to raise a relief fund for Lorain tornado sufferers. President T M Bruner will ask directors to meet tomorrow and gather contributions possibly exceeding 100 dollars. City Development board will accept donations from the public.
Battery B 131st Field Artillery in Amarillo backs polo movement among national guard artillery units. William Boyce Jr leads efforts with equipment secured and practice under way at the artillery barns on South Polk street. Teams planned with Fort Logan Wichita Falls Fort Sill Brownwood Fort Sam Houston and other Southwest units.
Two wildfires burn unchecked in California with a four mile Ta hoe National Forest front threatening Sattley and Calpine. The Keen county blaze crossed Tulare into Sequoia National Forest. About 300 rangers and civilians fight the flames as earlier week fires are controlled.
Dr Walter M W Splawn former Texas railroad commissioner and UT economics professor will become UT president, succeeding H E Bolton who declined the post. Splawn, born 1883 in Arlington, held Baylor dean and Yale Chicago PhD credentials and co authored an economics textbook.

Hutchinson Kansas July 5 Ruby Clampitt known girl forger died today after fleeing Barton county jail ten days ago and leaping from a speeding train while being returned to Great Bend from Kansas City Kansas where she was captured yesterday.
