Fort Worth wheat closes at 1.11 to 1,121 a bushel as heat and drought drive prices up. Chicago prices swing with sharp gains amid reports of a drought and a forecast of the smallest U.S. wheat crop in 37 years. Unofficial estimates show 323 million bushels against a 341 million official June figure.
The European gold bloc led by France, Belgium, Poland, Italy and Switzerland renounced support for the current conference unless it operates under the gold standard. Delegates expect government orders to return home, risking paralysis of the talks if the bloc deserts the parley. The group adjourned drafting work pending fresh instructions, with several committees following suit to pause proceedings.

In Austin on July 3 the Wet and Dry tickets failed to file convention delegates for the August 26 repeal election by the midnight deadline. The secretary of state’s office had received neither list when the cutoff passed, though the Dry delegates’ list arrived later.
Miss Vivian Price about 20 of Amarillo Texas drowned in a creek near Nelagoney six miles west of Pawhuska Oklahoma on Sunday. Her uncle who tried to rescue her drove away during the incident. The bodies were brought to Pawhuska. The uncle’s name was not learned immediately. Vivian Price was the daughter of Mrs Blanche Baldwin a Silver Grill Coffee Shop employee. Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
Acting postmasters named for Texas towns Dalhart Sanger and Mount Vernon with D E Autry John A Nicholson and Arthur C Moffett appointed on July 3 under Washington orders.

Washington July 3 The Roosevelt administration weighs closer ties to Soviet Russia amid unofficial urging from advisers for recognition. The Reconstruction Finance Corporation has authorized loans totaling about 4 million dollars to U.S. exporters to ship 60 000 to 80 000 bales of cotton to Russia secured by Amtorg notes with full government guarantees.
Mrs. Effie Anderson, 37, was charged with murder in Dallas today after her husband A. A. Anderson, 41, died from a shooting. Witnesses say Anderson was shot when she drove to his curb in a taxicab and called him out yesterday evening.
State labor commissioner Jack Flynn says licenses for boxing promoters boxers wrestlers promoters and others will be issued in time for operations to begin September 1. The announcement came in Austin on July 3.

Five men were killed and another seriously wounded in Floyd County Kentucky when gunfire erupted at a voting booth during a school trustee election dispute over whether to end balloting or allow two more minutes to continue. Green Conn 62 Wilburn Conn 38 Mimms Conn 46 Millard Conn 21 Wayne Click 40 died. Lawrence Conn 23 critically wounded.
Ralph W. Morrison of Texas, member of the American delegation to the world economic conference, was suddenly taken ill today. Senator James Couzens of Michigan said after visiting his room that the condition was not serious, as a doctor and a nurse were summoned.
Mrs. Ella A. Boole, head of the National Women's Christian Temperance Union for eight years, plans to resign tomorrow from Milwaukee office, according to United Press reports.
Monday officials pursued leads in the Sunday shooting of Robert Ames and Ruth Drysdale and the death of former employee Joe Bob McClure found at the American Laundry. Ames and Drysdale were wounded, McClure died after a struggle with the gun. Witnesses described a bloody scene and a possible fall from height at the laundry.
Indianapolis July 3 Boardman 35 Boston sportsman and aviator died this morning from injuries suffered in a Saturday crash near Municipal Airport during a New York to Los Angeles $10 000 prize race after a cross wind toppled his plane. His wife and brother visited him as he fought for life. Boardman previously held the long distance non stop flight record with a 5 000 mile New York to Istanbul flight in 1931.
Government meteorologist Richard W. Gray said at 10 A.M. that the tropical disturbance remained near Pinar Del Rio in Cuba, west of Havana, with no evidence of a northeasterly movement as reported by Havana observatories.
Col. Edgar King of Fort Bliss described Palo Duro Canyon as a most scenic site during an Amarillo inspection. He proposed three Army forestry camps of 200 men each in the canyon and spent Sunday testing water facilities and the two drilled wells as water sources for the camps.

Annapolis Md July 3 UPI Cabinet members braved a lashing wind and high seas to report to President Roosevelt on board the cruiser Indianapolis a first hand update on recovery program developments since his vacation began. The group boarded a submarine chaser after noon for the President’s ship anchored offshore as they waited for the 40 mile per hour wind and rain to ease.
