American Bomber Pilot Delivers High Officer After Narrow Atlantic Run

Captain Clifton Pyle of Marshall Texas piloted a Flying Fortress carrying an unnamed high U S officer from Casablanca to Britain. Struck by fog and fuel shortage off Spain and Ireland, the crew guided the bomber to Northern Ireland with 45 minutes of fuel left. The officer continued by train to Casablanca. Pyle later flew to Wilhelmshaven and participated in daylight raids. Intelligence officer Lieut Harold Fox confirmed Pyle's selection for the mission.

New Discovery In Mystery Of Cancer

A new cancer causing substance, invisible and water clear, was reported by Alfred Taylor and colleagues at the University of Texas. Found in egg yolk sacs near cancers, it behaves like a virus and transmits cancer quickly in mice, suggesting a common mammalian cancer mechanism.

Nobles Tells of Gasoline Formula

H A Nobles of Amarillo recalls a Pittsburgh episode from twenty years ago about a gasoline manufacturing formula costing about two cents per gallon. He wrote to Senator Connally and congressmen, noting Bennum and Trees Oil Co had a small plant and that the formula was sold to another firm. He urges government acquisition for war needs.
