Gray county landowners meet in Pampa on Wednesday to discuss permitting the burning of natural gas for carbon black. Petitions are being circulated with wide signing. speakers include R G Barnum J M Sanford Carl Lockhart KE J Pickens and Roger McConnell who presided. Residents argue the plan would raise opposition from Amarillo citizens and affect Panhandle gas markets.
Sen Lloyd E Price heads the Ferguson impeachment bar removal senate committee in Austin. He indicated invitations would invite input from the public or experts as to how to proceed and said the hearing might be open or executive session. The panel will organize and report to the senate on a plan of procedure. It is unofficially noted a constitutional amendment would be needed to remove the impeachment bar.
In Canyon Texas E Burroughs, once a jeweler in Italy Texas, was robbed twenty five years ago. A farmer lad later sent a 25 dollar check and promised the remaining 50 dollars to cover stolen watches as restitution. The guilty convict seeks peace and health by making amends.
Washington January 29 Senator Moses Republican of New Hampshire threatened a night session to push the postal pay and increase bill. The debate focused on Senator George Democrat of Georgia proposal to lower second class advertising rates to 1920 levels. The bill calls for rate increases and also revises third and fourth class rates and various special service charges.
A fatal gas leak from a probably broken appliance claimed six lives in a West Scranton residence. Mr and Mrs Louis Horosini and their four children aged 5 8 3 and 1 were found in a gas filled room after a passerby detected the odor and alerted authorities. Attempts to revive them failed.
Carl J. Peterson state bank commissioner under ex Governor Davis appeared in city court and pleaded not guilty to charges he acted as the former governor s agent in an alleged pardon sale involving Walter Grundy a convicted embezzler in Reno county Kansas
Dan Ansley, merchant of Dumas, urged the Amarillo Globe to sponsor a party in Dumas when the new highway opens. He said the road will shorten the trip to Amarillo, inviting Amarilloans to attend and be hosted royally by the Globe. Ansley traveled to Amarillo to buy goods for the Ansley Phillips Mercantile firm.
A large grass fire north of Wildorado burned ten to twelve sections, starting on the L-8 ranch and spreading to the Gray ranch. Jim Sheston arrived from Amarillo to survey the damage.

Schuyler W Hammer and Glen A Randall of Amarillo are cited for heroism in a 1922 rescue attempt on ice after a party's companions fell through. The Carnegie Hero Fund Commission awarded silver medals to Randall and Hammer with lifelong pensions to their families as part of its 21st annual list of 23 acts of heroism including ten fatalities.
Ruth Bryan Owen of Miami aged 40, daughter of William Jennings Bryan, appeared before U S commissioner Charles T. Knowles to apply for American citizenship. She stated she married Maj. Reginald Owen of the British Army in 1917 and left the United States with him for England.
Thomas F. Ham was arrested Wednesday night by the sheriff's department and jailed on burglary charges. He allegedly stole furniture from a local residence five months ago and is held pending grand jury investigation.
