Mystery Humming Noise Traced to Local Plow Plant
Amarillo readers reported a city wide humming. Ed Grundy of the Graham Hoeme Plow Company heat treating plant identified the sound as from exhaust fans and power generators. Altering fan blade pitch and possibly using different generators will reduce the noise as the plant resumes operations.

Plan for Thompson Park children's fishing hole announced
Plans for a youth fishing hole in Thompson Park were announced by Dave Britain, president of the Panhandle Outdoor Sportsmen Club, as the group opens its annual membership drive with 400 members. The project envisions a junior group under 17 years, and faces legal and dam repairs before stocking with possible catfish, perch, or bass and bluegill.

Texarkana Negro Sentenced to Life for Constable Slaying
Charlie Lee, a Negro, received a life sentence after his murder conviction in the death of former Constable R. F. Talley on November 7. The verdict marks the second conviction in Talley’s death, with Andrew Hill already found guilty of firing the fatal shot and sentenced to life. Two additional suspects remain to be tried. Talley was shot in the head with his own pistol.

Amarillo Students to Graduate at University
Three Amarillo students of the University of Texas will receive degrees at the school on Jan 31, the university news bureau said. Mary Ann Dudley and Bert Larson Stovall will graduate with Bachelor of Arts, Arch Vernon Bryan Jr with Bachelor of Journalism, and Hudson Prichard Jr of Canyon will also receive a Bachelor of Journalism degree.
