London officials said four people were killed in an explosion at a Scottish arms factory this afternoon. The ministry of supply announced the deaths as investigators began assessing the blast site.

Final examinations for the fall semester of 1940 41 will be held tomorrow and Thursday in all Amarillo public schools. Only two days are allotted though two and a half days are usually required. Primary students take no exams. other students attend classes Friday morning while primary classes resume then for grading and report filing.
John Shea 23 spent ten and a half hours in a dentist chair in New York yesterday to repair teeth for a Army physical. He belongs to the 101st signal battalion New York National Guard and the unit sails for Camp Shelby Miss to be inducted. Doctors had warned he could not pass the exam because of his teeth. His unit paid for the work.
The Texas Tech Alumni and Ex-Students Association will hold its monthly meeting Thursday night at 6 45 at the Capitol Hotel.
James Snyder a jobless clerk caused a subway train to wait several minutes as he searched the tracks for a dropped nickel. He received a suspended sentence after saying readers would understand if they had lost their last nickel.
Emma Alice Green, already with the Texas state library in Austin, is appointed assistant librarian for Amarillo by city manager H. R. Smith. She will replace Gladys Henderson, who moves to Abilene as college librarian. Green, daughter of Roy and Mrs. Green, has a BA and library science degree and has worked with the state library since 1939 and at the Texas Military College library. She will arrive in Amarillo February 20 for the new post.
Amarillo officials anticipate a revised building code ready for submission to the city commission by early next month. Wallace Hazlewood, building inspector and committee secretary, said final changes will be considered after the committee reviews recommendations from the national board of five underwriters.
