Amarillo police report a 23 year old man, Durrance, was abducted near the Western Union main office 120 West Fifth Avenue. Two armed abductors forced him into a car, claiming they had the wrong man and sped away for about 10 miles before he escaped.

78 year old Dad Thompson Amarillo pioneer grain man and father of Sheriff W N Thompson died after a 30 foot fall from the Taylor Hotel stairs. He suffered concussion and died at St Anthony's Hospital 45 minutes after the 9 15 AM accident. Surviving are his son, a daughter Mrs W M Gouldy, two brothers and a sister. Funeral arrangements are pending.
In Glendora Mississippi the Coast Guard and Red Cross moved to relieve flood victims. They evacuated and vaccinated residents across six counties as the Tallahatchie and Yazoo rivers threatened more damage. About 45 000 people were affected across a 200 mile stretch.

Five robbers kidnapped the family of M. C. Mott, cashier of Mundelin State Bank, held them six hours at the bank before rifling the vault and taking 3000. The crime is linked to a prior April kidnapping of the Mott family with a 10000 haul.
