Freedom Train Will Reach Amarillo May 16
Congressman Gene Worley announced that the American Heritage Foundation will reroute the Freedom Train to include Amarillo on May 16 after a flood of protests from Panhandle groups. The route change follows letters and campaigns by civic clubs schools and patriotic organizations and ends with the train traveling from Hutchinson Kansas on its return trip.

The longest strike in Toledo history ended when Pure Oil Co officials and CIO Oil Workers Union representatives signed a new contract. The walkout began March 28, 1947, with about 470 workers leaving to press for a single contract covering Ohio West Virginia and Texas operations.

US School Aid Outlook Rosy for Nation's Schools

More Loot Recovered in Amarillo Theft Probe
Police recovered more loot this morning including a portable pistol grip electric drill found at a south town residence. Two Amarillo youths are charged with theft over 50 dollars and released on bond as detectives identify property from at least 25 thefts and burglaries since January 11. A grand jury investigation is likely to resume Wednesday morning.
