Herb Budke, president and general manager of Amarillo Gas Company, was named president of the Amarillo Community Chest at a YWCA luncheon. He succeeds Bob Crudgington who was praised. Texas Legislature Opens 52nd Session at Noon

Conley Receives Another Year In Plymouth County Case

Amarillo photographer and carpenter Louis Bob Conley was sentenced in Brockton probate court to a year in the Plymouth County House of Correction on contempt of court charges over custody of his daughter Lynette. Lynette, now with her grandmother in Amarillo, had custody awarded to her mother two years ago. Conley had fled to avoid federal charges and was arrested after release on bond.

Pair of AWOL soldiers confess home burglary in St Louis

Two young men, William Duchie and Gerald Misakian, admitted to burglarizing the home of C A Cash in Amarillo during a 10 day theft spree across the nation while in a stolen car. They told St Louis police they also burglarized a Las Vegas service station and seized Cash family valuables valued over $1,000.

Blood Typing Project Off to Fast Start

Amarillo and Potter County residents began a blood typing drive at the Potter County Memorial Blood Center. In the first hour 112 people aged 4 to 72 were processed by nurses technicians and volunteers. The drive continues through all residents with hours Mon Wed Fri 7–10 pm and Thu 9 am–5 pm.

Plan for joint truancy crime division in Amarillo area
