The $550000 school bond issue includes $50000 for the first unit of a building in Bivins addition, not to be erected until conditions warrant. The bonds would raise the school tax about 6 cents next year, with the current rate at 85 cents. No bonds have been voted since 1927, and outstanding bonds total about $1.55 million, raising total to slightly over $2 million.

A blaze at the Wick hotel in Pittsburg Kansas killed two guests and injured five others while 74 people escaped. The dead include Clarence Parker a foreman with the Kansas City Southern railroad and Ralph Dennis 19 of Amarillo Texas. James Davis of Amarillo among the injured. relatives unable to reach him at noon. Authorities investigate possible incendiary origins.
Texas farmers will join the $30,000,000 super cooperative cotton marketing association through a statewide drive. Governor Moody met with Alexander Legge and Carl Williams to urge all existing Texas groups or new ones to affiliate with the national cooperative, establishing coordinated participation under the Federal Farm Board plan.

Cash and securities worth between 12000 and 15000 were stolen, with the exact amount undetermined. T. L. Wilcox, cashier, reported the crime this morning. They used a wall hook to hang the tackle and backed a car to the entrance to drop the safe into it.
C J F Collier, an Amarillo insurance man, pleaded guilty to two counts in the Turner case and was fined 75 dollars plus costs. The charges allege unlawful driving at speeds over 20 and under 26 miles per hour and that negligent careless driving led to Tom Turner’s death, a pioneer Amarillo attorney, in a September crash.

Joe Swayze of Portales New Mexico was arrested by Constable Allen Johnson on a charge of fraudulently obtaining sweet potatoes and dried beans. He is in the county jail on a fugitive warrant with bond set at 1000 dollars. Extradition proceedings will be pursued by the Portales sheriff. he denies the charge.
Lonnie Colling, 33, is in critical condition after being kidnapped and shot by three men who robbed him after he received his paycheck at a Dallas automobile plant. He says the men wore red handkerchiefs, forced him to drive to a lonely road, and the shotgun blast mangled his left hand, which was amputated. He described the car and identified the weapon found nearby.
A Mexican fugitive named Pedro Rabondo killed border patrol inspector William P. McCalb in Alice Texas and was wounded by officers before being arrested by Sheriff C W Price of Jim Wells County.
Six prisoners escaped last night from Navarro County farm jail by prying off window bars. Most were serving time for unlawful riding of trains. None had been recaptured by noon.
