Desperate convicts evade 100 officers in Arkansas woods

A gang of three armed convicts began a deadly woods chase as 100 officers with bloodhounds hunted them near Little Rock. A guard was killed and an officer wounded during a high speed car chase and roadblock clashes. The fugitives, led by James Perry Williams, fled a ditch crash after an 85 mph pursuit. The posse warned to shoot to kill, while weather and swampy terrain hinder scent tracking. They are believed to be in a 10-square-mile area near Highways 67 and 70. The fourth convict remained at large, with car thefts and gunfights marking the escape.
