Peas Gog Producers warn that unless the OPA grants a reasonable price adjustment, Grade A milk deliveries to Amarillo will stop. After the change, Grade A milk will be limited to hospitals and doctor's prescriptions in Amarillo. The move follows ongoing price-control tensions and raises questions about regional supply.
City county and Chamber of Commerce officials meet at 4 30 this afternoon with the Overall Planning Committee to decide whether Amarillo's coliseum should be downtown or in the country. The Tri State Fair Grounds and a site north of the Rock Island Railroad west of Tyler Street are under study. Jay Taylor and Rex Baxter lead the discussions with outside city officials' input to be read. cost of downtown site cited as major obstacle since county owns the fair grounds.
Amarillo area dairy producers and distributors urge the Office of Price Administration to raise the milk price ceiling as feed costs surge. John Gillham of Clarendon leads the plea saying producers suffer losses at current ceilings of 3.55 per 100 pounds, 4.15 desired, with retail impact estimated at 16 cents a quart. City officials studied the issue but took no action in open meeting.
Adm. Harold R. Stark testified before the Pearl Harbor committee that the Navy had evidence of unusual Japanese interest in Pearl Harbor moorings a month before the 1941 attack but did not deem it significant at the time. The United Packinghouse Workers of America orders a Jan 16 strike against major packers in Chicago to push for a 2 cent per hour wage increase. About 147 plants in Swift Armour Wilson and Du Gahy will be affected, with 200,000 workers at risk of losing meat supply nationwide.
Soviet ambassador Andrei Gromyko will head Russia's role on the Far Eastern Commission to shape Japanese occupation policy under Gen Douglas MacArthur. Nikolai V. Novikov will serve as his deputy, with Kuzma Derevyanko as the Soviet member of the Allied Council for Japan in Tokyo.
The International Military Tribunal heard testimony that Ernst Kaltenbrunner ordered executions of 12 to 15 Americans including AP war correspondent Joseph Morton. Jackie Murl Lee nine suffers loss of his left eye after an arrow pierced it while playing with Sammy and Wanda Jones at the Lee home on North Taylor. The accident occurred at four o'clock and the eye was removed during surgery at St. Anthony's Hospital.
