No trace had been found of bandits who looted four safes in Sudan and Amherst late Wednesday night, escaping with nearly 400 dollars. Grant Hale of the Santa Fe railroad police said two youths arrested for a Clovis Ford theft are not believed connected. No clues or traces have been found after the safes were blown at the Santa Fe railroad office, Sudan post office, and a local store.

Virgil Singleterry and Ernest Pounds both 17 were arrested by the sheriff on auto theft charges and held in Potter county jail awaiting Clovis officers. They reportedly stole a Ford coupe in Clovis Wednesday night and traveled through Canyon Amarillo to Fort Worth and Denver yards. Items found on them included ice cream spoons two flashlights a kodak and gloves. Officers say the kodak and gloves were taken from a Santa Fe area car and may prompt federal charges under the Dyer act.
The inspectors’ report outlines negotiations between McDermot and postal officials and a resulting money payment. The investigation, begun after the Department of Justice concluded no law was technically violated in the ting transactions.
J F Manning proposed a westward extension of Tenth Street to the Rock Island railroad and southwest to the section line by the county farm to build a paved highway to Canyon without crossing rails. Land around the county farm is selling at 500 an acre. the county could fund the project and still buy more land for a distant farm. Manning would discuss with the Tenth Street Property Owners association next meeting.
The Potter County Federation of Women will not meet tomorrow afternoon as planned. An officer election originally set for January 10 is postponed to a later date.
Mexico City reports attempts to locate the Mexican steamship Tamaulipas with 200 passengers aboard and five schooners that sailed from Vera Cruz on January 23 bound for Frontera and other Gulf ports after a storm.
Twenty four men have been secured for work in connection with the community chest drive which is to launch a new attack Monday morning in an effort to complete its goal of 26009 sought for eight institutions in the city. The remainder of today and tomorrow will be devoted to continued efforts to get more workers and it is hoped that a crew of fifty solicitors will be ready for work when the new drive is launched with 12000 yet to be raised to complete quota. The drive began on December 5 and was an effort on the part of Amarillo's citizenship to eliminate several drives by one big drive to care for several organizations and charity by one donation.
W J Cazzell known as Father and Mayor of San Jacinto is being urged by Amarillo and San Jacinto citizens to run for city commissioner. A morning petition from his supporters asks him to enter the race though his candidacy is not confirmed.

Chicago coroner Oscar Wolff announced William N McClintock died of Apicia fever, corroborating the pathologist hired by William D. Shepherd. Shepherd vowed swift legal action against those attacking him over the investigation into the millionaires orphan’s estate.
A Dodge touring car reported stolen from Third and Elk streets was found three miles east of the city, stripped of valuables but recognized by its owner Clay H. Thornton of the Panhandle Laundry. Mrs. Wyatt Hester of 308 Carolina Street is visiting relatives in Memphis.
Randall county proposes trading ten sections south of Amarillo for an equal area east or west of the city in Potter county so Amarillo can extend its corporate limits southward and extend services. Claude N. Harrison announces the plan at the Amarillo Real Estate board luncheon with a committee named to outline steps.
Potter county motor vehicle owners thronged the tax office to pay 1925 license fees. Ben Golding, collector, said about 2,600 licenses were issued by 3 pm. The county lists over 6,000 motor vehicles and officials expect more than 4,900 registrations before week’s end.
Bishop Talbot of Bethlehem cannot attend the January 18 consecration at St. Andrew's Church for Bishop BE. C. Seaman. In his place Bishop Thomas Gailor of Tennessee and head of the National Council of Episcopal Churches will preside.
