Second Car Accident Victim Dies. Driver Charged

A second victim of an automobile crash in the 1900 block of East Tenth Avenue died at a local hospital. Enrique Montanes, 45, a Mexican relief worker of 1511 Garfield Street, died at 6 am. Enrique Torres, about 48, of 1308 Cleveland Street, died instantly. Arless L. Hooks, 24, of Houston, who drove the car, was charged with murder and is under guard at Northwest Texas Hospital. Witnesses said Hooks drove east on Tenth Avenue at high speed and lost control, with the car zigzagging off the pavement.

Seventeen years of service as postoffice inspector in Amarillo ended today for M. B. Johnson of 1701 Monroe Street. He was transferred yesterday to the Denver division of the U S post office department and left for Denver last night. His exact new location in Colorado, Wyoming, or New Mexico was not specified.
