Rev. O. P. Clark, head of the Northwest Texas Methodist locating commission, urged Amarillo realtors to back a proposed Claren don college. He said the commission seeks a local college and asked the Real Estate board to promote the effort, but the board took no action.
The Texas Company and Gulf Refining slashed Louisiana and Arkansas crude prices 15 to 39 cents a barrel for Craddo Bull Bayou Haynesville Desoto and Crichton districts effective yesterday. Top state price now 2.31 with drops to 1.35 as other firms held. Pittsburgh buyers posted six Pennsylvania crude grades down 15 cents a barrel.
Houston, Feb 23. Mrs. Arthur Atkins, 85, shot by her husband in a jealous rage at their home Tuesday night, died in a hospital Wednesday. Atkins, an oil refinery worker, told investigator George Andrew that his wife admitted loving another man. Atkins said, I shot her because I was jealous. Atkins is charged with murder.
In Washington on February 28 the Republican floor leader Curtis proposed laying aside the Boulder canyon dam bill to take up the administration’s prohibition reorganization bill. Senator Edwards opposed, with Bruce and Norris debating the issue as the long session wore on. Ashurst later moved to set the dam bill aside for veterans relief. Fire destroyed the National Air Transport air mail hangar in Kansas City severing the Chicago Dallas contract. Loss estimated at 100000 to 125000 dollars. Three carrier pigeon mail planes one whirlwind travel plane four Liberty motors and other equipment also destroyed. Fire began between 3 and 4 this morning.
Nathan P. Weissman aged 19 shot and killed himself in a room of his father's barrel factory at Braddock a Pittsburgh suburb today. No cause for the death by own action was assigned.
