Akron Dirigible Akron Crashes After Hangar Escape

The dirigible Akron broke from ground crew as it left the hangar in Lakehurst New Jersey. It hopped about 20 feet then crashed damaging the lower steering fin and bending the auxiliary control car. Wind gusts reached 32 miles per hour catching the airship broadside. Congressional investigators stood by awaiting inspection for airworthiness.

Will Rogers and Rudy Vallee Stop in Amarillo

Will Rogers, star of stage and screen, stopped at Amarillo's English Field airport on a brief leg of his air journey to Hollywood.
