Third Gas Waste Suit Is Filed Here
The federal suit targets Lawrence R. Hagg D. D. Harrington and Stanley Marsh of Amarillo to stop their gasoline stripping plant in Carson County from wasting gas in the Panhandle field. Henry Schafer Inc of Oklahoma City, a Carson County landowner, says the plant drains his gas and wastes 97 percent of its value by extracting gasoline and venting gas. The action accuses widespread loss of gas reserves and threats to oil production from reduced gas pressure, noting stripers with Texas Railroad Commission permits may violate the state constitution. Nearly all 52 stripping plants are involved in federal court suits.
