Mrs S H Brasher hosted Stitch and Chatter at her 740 North Pierce home. Birth day gifts were given to Mrs Anna Thompson as officers were elected: Mrs G A Runyon president, Mrs Jerry Moon vice president, and Mrs D Wooten secretary. Members attending included Thompson Mason Blackburn Runyon Moon Wooten and the hostess. The next meeting is at Mrs J T King in Pleasant Valley on Wednesday Feb 28.

County Trucks to Seek Cans Again
Amarillo households are urged to salvage tin cans for a citywide collection before March 14. With tin in short supply due to imports cut by wartime events, the drive aims to beat last November’s total by several hundred pounds. Wash and prepare cans by removing labels ends and flattening. unprepared cans spoil the detinning process.

Four More Grass Fires Scorch Earth in Amarillo Week
Amarillo police report four additional grass fires on Thursday afternoon and night, part of a week of grass blazes. Five alarms were sounded including a trash fire at 1113 East Third and fires at West Third near Rock Island tracks 3707 Cheyenne 1210 Georgia and First and Hayes with varying times yesterday and last night.

Negro Youth Gets Suspended Sentence for Theft
Eddie High, a black youth, received a five year suspended sentence in the 47th District Court for theft of about 1300 dollars from a hotel on Sept 28. Defense attorney W A Culwell pleaded not guilty and sought a suspended sentence, calling three character witnesses who testified to Highs good reputation.
