Harris Funeral Set Thursday Afternoon

Funeral services for Northern Harris 46, son of Amarillo pioneer grocer J. H. Harris, will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon. The body arrived from San Francisco by N. S. Griggs & Son. Harris was killed last Thursday in a Western Pacific railway accident in San Francisco. A native of Arkansas, he moved to Amarillo at age ten.

Eddie Baumel Puls on Radio Shows for Maritime Service

Eddie Baumel formerly KGNC music director continues his radio work in the Maritime Service. Apprentice Seaman Baumel, soon Seaman First Class, is stationed in St. Petersburg Florida producing programs such as Meet the Men of the Victory Fleet. He denies being assigned to the cooks and bakers school and says he handles public relations news stories photographs and radio productions. He calls the assignment a grand spot.

Damage Falls On Trailer Fire En Route to Dallas

Clothing and household articles loaded on a trailer valued at 1000 dollars were burned when the trailer caught fire while being towed about five miles west of Claude. The Mathews family owned the property and were moving from Amarillo to Dallas. the trailer was saved and the cause remains undetermined. Also, J W Zischang and wife, former Amarillo residents, plan to move from Dallas to North Carolina where they will work in local newspapers.

Mystery Explosion Reported on Western Amarillo Edge

Hundreds of calls flooded The Globe News police and fire departments after a strong explosion at around 1 30 pm heard on Amarillo's western edge. No location or cause confirmed, with a nearby ordnance range suspected as a possible source.

Young junior symphony plans mid winter concert

The 65 piece Junior Symphony Orchestra under Conductor Robert Louis Barron will perform Thursday night in the High School Auditorium. Soloists Jane Holt with a Mozart piano concerto and Lynn Paul with Carnival of Venice on cornet will appear. Admission is free and the group aims to train young instrumentalists for the major Philharmonic.

Funeral Set for W G Wray in Carter Oklahoma

Graveside services for W G Wray killed in a wreck northeast of Amarillo will be held at 11 a m Thursday in Carter Oklahoma. He is survived by three sons aged 4 8 and 10, his mother Mrs R B Wray three sisters and two brothers all in Carter plus a sister in Amarillo. Rev Bruce Ainsworth will officiate with Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home handling arrangements.

Missing in Action Glen Camp Over Germany

Lt. Glen Camp Jr. formerly of Amarillo is listed as missing in action over Germany. He was the son of G. E. Camp, Woolworth's manager in El Paso, who sent word via George Hammock detailing Glen’s earlier training in Dalhart and his fall visit.
