Historic detail precautions used in Gone With the Wind set
Selz nick International Studio staff used extensive methods to recreate 19th century interiors for the film. They hand painted wallpaper and carpets, painted two life sized portraits for Aunt Pittypat's Atlanta home set, and produced 34 carpet and 35 wallpaper designs via a patent process reproducing period interiors. Colored plates guided stencil cutouts and oils applied to surfaces. An actual cupboard bottle arrangement evolved into shelves and drawers over time.
