Senate vote on tax bill forecast by Smoot

Washington February 11 The Senate vote on passage of the tax reduction bill was forecast by Chairman Smoot of the finance committee. The final roll call was postponed as Republicans sought to recoup revenue losses from taxes on automobiles trucks admissions and dues. A vote tomorrow would assure tax reduction by March 15 when income tax installments are due.

Oil Discovery Reported Near Tulia With Lease Interest

Death of Cene Simmons in Channing

Cene Simmons died in Channing after a career as a pioneer rancher and longtime resident. He was born in Welker County Texas and moved to Hall County, then Hart County, where he engaged in ranching and served as sheriff. He is survived by seven children, three sisters, and five brothers, all of whom live in Channing. An Amarillo group traveled to attend the funeral.

Panhandle oil lines to Amarillo cap 45 000 bbl daily

Panhandle crude oil will be marketed through Amarillo as an eight inch pipeline from the Pantex field when daily production tops 15 000 barrels. The new line will raise capacity to 45 000 barrels a day into Amarillo, while the existing six inch line handles about 15 600 barrels. Construction of an eight inch gathering line extends northeast from the Pantex pump station and will be five miles long with two six inch lines to reach further points. The project, costing over 700 000 dollars, aims to connect Panhandle production with Amarillo refineries and spur regional job gains.
