Northwest Texas Hospital stores a wide array of valuables in its safe including diamond rings pocket watches bank books and a few aspirin tablets. Superintendent Buck Beringer seeks owners or relatives to claim items or they will be appraised and sold with proceeds benefiting the hospital after a reasonable holding period.

Mrs. Ella Louise Whitman 71 died at her home in Happy after an explosion and fire. She had lived in Happy 47 years and was wife of S. T. Whitman. Survived by her husband two sons Otis and Lloyd both of Happy and a grandson Otis Whitman Jr. The casket rests at Blackburn Shaw Funeral Home pending burial arrangements.

Two cab drivers filed appeals after licenses were revoked effective Saturday at 1 PM. Lefty Fowler, city transportation director, cited prison records and misrepresentation on license applications. Fowler noted 29 drivers have prison or court records. nine licenses revoked, 20 under further investigation. The ordinance bans driving cabs with a prison record in Amarillo.
Officers in Julesburg Colorado recovered a 1941 Ford coupe stolen in Amarillo from George H. Caulfield at 1521 Parker Street on January 25. The motor was found frozen when the car was recovered.
Bill Griffith aged 34 is in Potter County jail after being charged in connection with a brawl Saturday night at the May fair Night Club east of the city.
The Army Graves Registration Service will ask next of kin about moving remains of World War II dead. Inquiries will come from the Army Quartermaster General and Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, with Marine Corps and Coast Guard commands also involved. Remains from European and Pacific theaters will be released from temporary cemeteries in Hawaii and Europe this fall, with further cemetery listings to follow. Col. E. V. Macatee of the San Antonio depot says two years may be needed to complete the program and urges updating address and next of kin information.
