In Houston two men whistling a tune trussed Nightwatchman J. Grounds and took $1000 from a laundry cash box. Grounds escaped after being bound with copper wire. he described two assailants who passed by yesterday evening and returned this afternoon to tie him.
United States Secret Service announces the arrest of three Brooklyn men and the recovery of 350000 in fake ten dollar federal reserve notes. After three months of investigation the ring was broken up before any counterfeit notes circulated.
J. H. Collemback aged 62, a blacksmith, died in a Lubbock hospital after burns from an acetylene torch used to weld a leaking drum containing gasoline fumes exploded in his Tahoka shop. The fatal blast occurred last night, with Collemback succumbing to injuries.
A bearded, ill-dressed man arrested for illegal entry in Minnesota faces possible charges as a kidnap murder suspect. Federal investigators compare evidence with Justice Department findings at the scene, as officers plan further rounds of questioning tonight or tomorrow. He is detained by day in Minnesota and moved to Pembina North Dakota jail at night.
Three men, L. E. Bouyer, his son Grover Cleveland Bouyer aged 18, and his stepson Leo McClain aged 30, were arrested Saturday at their home near River Road School on burglary charges. Dr. M. M. Thompson aided the injured enginemen through the night while Charley Willm directed rescue of Engineer Holmlund after a collision near Dalhart. Fire and rescue crews worked 12 hours to clear debris as two trains were held on the Texas New Mexico line. Holmlund, a veteran Dalhart engineer, faced slim odds amid burns and shock. his two sons Carlos and Hal Sutton are college students.
Twenty Jewish students were injured during a new wave of anti-Semitic rioting at the University of Wilno. The unrest followed non Jewish students attempting to bar others from a campus building after the university reopened with a pledge that non Jewish students would halt attacks.
Amarillo resident Mrs. Ida Mae McMurtry 52 owner of the McMurtry Apartments died early Tuesday at St. Anthony's Hospital after fifteen years in the city. She was a Central Presbyterian member. Survivors include her mother Mrs. Cora Brown Deinistas Calif two sisters Mrs. Charles A. Gatlin McLean and Mrs. Willie L Harless Longview and brother J E Stevens India Calif. Her son Carroll was killed in a 1929 automobile accident. Funeral arrangements are pend ing. body at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Chapel.

A snow avalanche from the Continental Divide may have killed and entombed two Denver businessmen skiers, Joseph Oppenheimer, 36, and John B Oberdorfer, 22, who have been missing since Sunday at Berthoud Pass. A search led by a friend in zero weather faced a bleak two mile high country hunt. The men are tied to an automobile appliance firm where Oppenheimer is secretary treasurer and Oberdorfer a bookkeeper.
A 25 year old Clovis New Mexico youth L C Clark is jailed in Hereford on charges of failure to stop render aid and driving while intoxicated after a car struck 19 year old West Texas State College student Jack Pate on Highway 60 between Hereford and Canyon. Pate suffered a broken left thigh and severe hip and knee injuries and remained in St Anthony Hospital after being knocked about 50 feet.
