The 47th district court term has seen a jail parade of drunken drivers with four men convicted for drunken driving. Pleading guilty were Herman Gish Sherman Stout Howard Baugus and Jack Pruitt who received fines jail terms and license suspensions as indictments and investigations continue. The grand jury reconvened after a week’s recess.
A Last Wife's Club has been formed by the American Legion post auxiliary in Waverly New York and plans an Armistice Eve dinner. The club will mark a deceased member with an empty chair at the table reflecting its unique nature. A Last Man's Club already exists among the Legionnaires.
Amarillo commissioner Joe Jenkins labeled sanitation neglect of water supplies as negligent homicide. He spoke to the Panhandle Water and Sewage Works Association, urging ongoing examination and use of state and federal aid to keep water systems healthy. The March 6 meeting was announced as next. More than 40 attendees from Panhandle towns were present.

Sam Marshall Jr President said the first trip on the new Dallas to Houston route with stops at Lubbock Big Spring San Angelo and Austin would depart here tomorrow morning if weather permits. The schedule calls for daily 7 30 am departures and 6 pm Houston arrivals. Cane cutter rabbits reach as far north as South Carolina, uncommon in the region.
Four Americans in Shanghai faced assassination threats after supporting the Chinese government. The letters signed Chinese Patriots targeted J. B. Powell former Missouri instructor Randall Gould editor of the Shanghai Evening Post M. C. Ford Pittsburgh born news editor and C. D. Alcott Vermillion South Dakota radio announcer with the hostile messages.
