Kalamazoo trucking contractor Robert Brown 25 disappeared after an affair with Clarence Freschette 25. Freschette told California Highway Patrol he shot Brown at Howell Michigan January 29 and hid the body in a trunk during a 2000 mile driving spree to Truckee California with hitch hikers present. He confessed after being detained near the California Nevada line.
Don Emery of Phillips Petroleum argues before the House Oil and Gas Committee for keeping sweet gas in light and fuel use while preserving the sour gas relief for the sour gas region. He notes the existing law favors small operators in Carson, Hutchinson and Moore counties but may not aid sweet gas drillers long term. Mrs Clifton was the daughter of Mr and Mrs A J Spade Rock Island agent at Morse.
Tickets for the Harold Bauer piano concert went on sale this morning at City Drug Store No 1 517 Polk Street. Prices 50 75 and 1 cents. The concert tomorrow night at the Municipal Auditorium begins at 8 15 under the Tri State Fair Association.
The Texas Senate approved a $3,500,000 relief bond bill by a 29 to 0 vote. It completes the earlier $20,000,000 bond issue for destitute Texas families, sets a maximum 3.5 percent semiannual interest, with bonds due May 1 every seven years beginning May 1, 1936, and authorizes sale by the state bond sale commission without relief commission applications.

In Dallas a mother Mrs. Tom Hicks and her three year old son David Lee Hicks perished after being trapped in a blaze. Mrs. Hicks grabbed the child and ran to the lawn before fainting. Neighbors found them unconscious and they died within six hours. The father, serving on a jury, rushed to the hospital and later learned his wife had died.
Spencer Stafford, a federal narcotics agent from Fort Worth, was shot and killed in Post while accompanying Dallas agent W. C. McCullough. Sheriff W. F. Cato of Garza County said he fired in self defense after deputies confronted two armed men at Dr. L. W. Kitchen's veterinary hospital. Stafford died from multiple gunshot wounds. an inquest was planned.
The Senate appropriations committee amended the administration’s 4.88 billion work relief bill to require prevailing wages on all work. The wage rule aims to prevent wage-rate suppression on private employment, sponsored by the AFL, and affects only wage rates, not overall earnings. Griggs Ambulance, Dial 4311.
Potter County authorities announce a campaign to curb speeding and reckless driving led by Deputy Constable Ham Horton. Horton will patrol county streets on a county motorcycle loaned by the commissioners' court.
