Two Men Charged In Auto Accidents

Two men face charges in Panhandle courts over traffic incidents. Joe Bailey of Dumas is charged with drunken driving after an accident north of Amarillo. Ralph Randolph Fincher of Dallas faces negligent homicide charges for a fatal crash near Claude. Highway patrolmen filed both cases.

County Moves Health Office To Old Library Building

Safety awards for Amarillo city drivers announced

Nine city of Amarillo drivers earn safety awards. Seven have two years with no chargeable accidents: Jack Stubblefield, Lesley Clayton, Irwin Ingram, Bill Gann, C. M. Reynolds, P. H. Jayres, C. L. Blackwell. Leo Kouba and J. O. Gifford have one year free of chargeable incidents. An insurance company will present safety certificates and badges.

Cases Transferred To Dallas Court

Most criminal cases in the Panhandle federal district have been moved to Dallas for trial. Deputy U S Marshal Bill Lampe transported prisoners from the federal jail at Pampa to Dallas to stand trial. No Amarillo court proceedings will occur until mid April.

Installation of Archbishop Set in San Antonio

The Most Rev Robert E Lucey will be formally installed as archbishop at the Cathedral of San Fernando in San Antonio on Thursday March 27. Apostolic delegate Ameleto Cicognani will conduct the ceremony with a 10 am start and civic receptions planned for the prior evening at the municipal auditorium. Lucey has served as bishop of Amarillo since February 1984 after Pope Pius XII appointed him weeks ago.
