Draft for Childless Married Men Aims at 19 to 26
Washington February 5 Selective Service Director Lewis B Hershey said new regulations are in the works to draft married men aged 19 to 26 who have no children. An order would remove deferments for men with one dependent and limit exemptions to men with one or more children a wife and children or more than one dependent. Hershey expects agency approval and possible presidential support. Chairman Vinson urged drafting eligible National Guard and reserve members and replacing drafted guardsmen with veterans.
