Retrial sought for Farris and Raders in Randall County
Edward Lee and Leo Earl Rader and James Farris seek a new trial in 47th District Court after a Canyon jury found them not guilty of robbery but gave two year terms for aggravated assault. The trio, tied to the Nov. 27 Brown ing Clopton hold up at KLYN in Randall County, had Clopton’s car recovered in Amarillo thirty minutes post arrest. Billy Culwell of Culwell and Culwell says the aggravated assault conviction cannot stand as robbery. The Raders face armed robbery charges in a separate trial for the Piggly Wiggly No. 2 and McCartt’s Super Market holdups last year.
