To Amarillo residents who wish to become charter members of the chamber of commerce, call or visit Monte B. Deve at the Board of City Development rooms to have their name added. The United States railroad labor board faced about seventy wage rise or rule-change petitions today. Train service unions filed requests with individual railroads for increases, with some demands reportedly exceeding 1920 peak wages. Chicago and North Western officials were told by train service employees that identical demands were being pressed across all lines.
Amarillo women packed the opening session of the annual News-Globe cooking school at the Panhandle Motor building on Taylor Street. Mrs Ida Chitwood demonstrated pie making while hundreds registered for prizes. numerous local firms cooperated and were listed. Some attendees stood in doors and on sidewalks to hear.

Frank Wolf lin J L Nunn and Gene Granberry paid W H Holmes 50000 cash for 40 acres in section 5 block Y northwest 40 of the southwest quarter about an eighth mile up Dison creek. The deal, 1250 per acre, tops local acreage prices. The buyers rejected an offer of 60000.
Two young sisters aged 76 and 18 attempted to buy carbolic acid to kill themselves but were thwarted early Sunday morning. A man overheard their plan on the phone and alerted druggists. clerks intercepted them and retrieved the poison, while the girls claimed ether would suffice.
William W. Blanton 47, brother and secretary to Congressman T. W. Blanton of Texas, died at his Washington residence after a short illness. He had lived in Washington seven years and is survived by his widow, one daughter Rubell, and three sisters Mrs Jank W Hill Miss Webb Blanton of Austin and Mrs James Kilgore of Wallas. Burial will be in Washington.
Mrs Clare Johnson and William H Holland, two graves less than 160 feet apart, mark the end of the Van Noy eating house tragedy. Private services were held at 2 pm and 4:30 pm in Griggs Undertaking chapel. Holland died from a head wound and is survived by his widow and seven children. Johnson was killed by a pistol shot to the breast.

The measure also allocates 461,225,000 for navy coast guards and other services, plus 8,000,000 for hospital construction from the veterans bureau and 7,674,000 for the coast guard to cover increased duties against liquor smuggling.
J P Henderson, 79, died Sunday night at his daughter Mrs G M Carver's home 2 Buchanan St Amarillo after a year in the city with relatives. He previously lived in Portales New Mexico and Riverside and Hill California and Portales and was a Cumberland Presbyterian Church member. Survived by two daughters Mrs Bartlett Portales and Mrs Carver this town and five sons and two sisters in Arkansas. funeral arrangements awaiting relatives. Funeral home handling remains.
