Coroner C. C. McClelland ruled murder and death by own action in the fatal shooting of A. M. Ellis a bedridden 64 year old by his ex soldier son O. B. McClelland who then killed himself. Ellis had been paralyzed since a September auto accident and was shot in his daughter's home. the son a 40 year veteran of the South Pacific had returned to work for Rock Island Railroad in Kansas City but was on a 60 day leave. A separate blast near Trinidad damaged 30 feet of 20 inch Lone Star Gas pipeline with no injuries.
Two burglaries were discovered early today. At Yellow Transit Company in Cleveland a warehouse safe was moved and an open back door found. In the home of Mrs. J S Knight police report missing clothing and 600 to 700 dollars in savings bonds.
Soviet delegate Andrei Gromyko accuses Bern ard Baruch of light minded remarks and warns that removing veto on punishment by outlaw nations would undermine the atomic control program and violate the UN charter. He urges a paragraph by paragraph review of the Baruch plan in the UN Atomic Energy Commission. He notes the Soviet silence ends after ten days. The note references Baruch’s stance on veto removal and U S signing conditions.
President Truman appoints Carroll Louis Wilson a 36 year old engineer as general manager of the U S Atomic Energy Commission in Washington on December 30.

Manila Dec 30 The administration of President Manuel Roxas plans to move the Philippines capitol to Quezon City, a Manila suburb. Presidential Secretary Juan C. Orendain said a congressional committee chose the site and if approved, Congress will be asked to pass the necessary legislation.
Mrs. J. M. Greenwood, wife of a Chinese National Airways pilot killed in a three plane crash on Christmas night, arrived in Shanghai from Houston aboard the Steamship Joseph Lee with her two children. Friends conveyed that her husband was among the 71 victims. She came to spend Christmas with him.
President Truman selects A L M Wiggins of Hartsville South Carolina banker and former American Bankers Association president as undersecretary of the treasury. He will succeed O Max Gardner when Gardner becomes ambassador to Britain.
Notre Dame president Rev John J Cavanaugh and West Point superintendent Maj Gen Maxwell V Taylor announced a temporary suspension of the Notre Dame Army football series after the 1947 games.
