Morford Infant Dies at Northweet Hospital

A three month old Morford daughter Heriey Morford died at Northweet Texas Hospital this morning. She was the child of Mr. and Mrs. Lievd Farl Morford of 3301 Best Tenth Avenue. The parents survive with two brothers Billy Ray and Braty Parl and a sister Prances Leute. Funeral arrangements have not been finalized.

Civilian Flier Plan Seen Slow to Help Amarillo

Local flyers greet Roosevelt announcement to train 20 000 civilian pilots as a national defense reserve. Jewelry theft leads to arrest of two Tucumcari visitors

Ruth Rascoe and Maypelle Bell were charged last night with theft after returning from Tucumcari. Sheriff’s officers picked them up there an hour after two women filed complaints accusing them of stealing jewelry.

61 Got Jobs At Post Office

Amarillo post office hired 61 extra workers for the Christmas mailing rush, averaging eight hours daily. Extra wages totaled 1,497 30 with overtime for regular staff pushing rush week payroll over 3,500 dollars. Postmaster W D DeGrassi says Christmas receipts exceed 10,000 but the office operates near cost, largely spending in Amarillo.

American embassy asks exemption from Nazi business ban

The American embassy delivered a note to Berlin's foreign office seeking assurances that American citizens would be exempt from the Dec 14 law barring Jews from managing business enterprises, even Jewish owned ones. The note seeks assurances alone and does not cite the German American friendship treaty.

Potter County To Have Two Amarillo High Alumni In Office

For the first time in Potter County two Amarillo High School graduates will hold county office. Tom Seay, elected county attorney last summer, and F E Gene Jordan, appointed as assistant by Seay, will take the oath on Saturday. Jordan, a 1923 Amarillo graduate, studied at Abilene Christian College and was the first student at Texas Tech before earning UT Law School in 1933. He later worked in the state auditor’s office and now partners with H H Cooper. Seay, a UT and UT Law School graduate, previously served as assistant county attorney under Howard Anderson, who retires January 1. County officials will take oath Saturday.

WPA May Be Dissolved If Permanent PWA Plan Proposed
