Operation Newspaper brings home town papers to Amarillo servicemen

Former Top Texas Democrat Myron Blalock Dies at 59

Marshall. Myron Blalock former Democratic national committeeman for Texas died in Marshall early today after a heart attack at his home. He was 59 and had practiced law and operated a dairy farm with Bla Lock Blalock Lohman and Blalock. He led the Texas Democratic Party during the Roosevelt era and served as committeeman from 1940 through the postwar period. His political career began with service in the Texas House 1913 to 1918. New York Dec 28 American Communists drew a miniature iron curtain around their convention session after opening rallies at which US policies were blasted as war making. About 2,600 delegates at three rallies last night cheered as speakers denounced rearmament and the presence of US troops in Asia.

Beggar Arrested for Drunkenness in Amarillo

Police found about a gallon of money and silver on a blind man named Annanias Williams who had been begging at Sixth. He was arrested last night on drunkenness charges, and was later found to have left Amarillo this morning aboard a bus toward Groesbeck, Texas. Police returned his money, which had not been counted.

The National Production Authority imposes a wide anti hoarding rule banning household and business accumulation of 55 critical items including cement lumber plywood paper and metals. Violations face up to a 10000 dollar fine and up to a year in prison. The order closes loopholes and aims to curb speculative buying and black market resale.
