In Dumas on December 27 Oran Wilson Jr. a 30 year old Amarillo Marine veteran was shot after a drunken brawl with his father Oran Wilson Sr. 54, at Doc's Liquor Store. Mrs. Marjorie Wilson 25 described a scuffle before the fatal attack near a Christmas dinner table. Authorities note a $1,214 on the table suggested a money dispute may have sparked the violence.

County slaying mystery linked to liquor store owner

Boy Shot by Accident From Christmas Rifle

Eleven year old Keith Proffer was in St Anthony hospital Thursday for oral surgery after a .22 rifle discharged while being cleaned by his 14 year old brother. He suffered multiple broken teeth and a shattered jaw from the post Christmas mishap at the family home 901 North Hayes. Police and hospital aides described his condition as serious but not critical. Doctors planned surgery to remove teeth and reset the jaw while it remained unclear if the bullet would be removed. The accident occurred Wednesday afternoon after the boys returned from a hunting trip with another brother Edwin.

Oklahoma City student injured in car wreck

Graham B. Johnson, Jr. of Oklahoma City, nephew of Eddie and Hap Johnson of Amarillo, suffered critical injuries Tuesday night near Oklahoma City while en route to Norman where he attends Oklahoma University. Surgery followed with only a slight chance to live, then a late rally reported. recollects a year ago Christmas week when his cousin Eddie Johnson Jr. of Amarillo died in a plane crash from Oklahoma City to New Orleans.
