Ward's Store Raided by Protesters in Dearborn

A crowd estimated at 75 people raided the Montgomery Ward store in Dearborn, smashing glass and toppling counters during a three week strike. Store manager Roland Easterbrook called the group union goons. no injuries were reported and police said order was restored after about 15 minutes. The Dearborn location is one of three Detroit area Ward stores involved in the same labor action.

The Navy reports American submarines destroyed a large Japanese aircraft carrier along with eight additional warships and twenty other Nipponese vessels.
