Three aircraft bound for Shanghai from Chungking were lost when fog and rain halted night landings. Unable to turn back due to lack of facilities at their departure field, fuel ran out during blind attempts to land. Two CNAC planes and one CATIC plane were involved.

Thirteen passenger planes approach Shanghai as night falls but dense fog grounds many. One lands safely at Kiangnan military airfield while eight turn back to other fields. Holiday crime spree hits Amarillo with thefts and burglaries

Police report a holiday wave of robberies and burglaries in Amarillo totaling nearly 500 dollars in losses. An armed robbery yielded 154 dollars, a theft 157 dollars, and a burglary 27 dollars taken. A separate burglary involved merchandise worth 79 dollars missing. Lon D. Corks remained in county jail on theft charges with a 750 dollar bond. Two More Survivors Of Air Crash Rescued

Two more men rescued from a drifting ice floe in the St Lawrence River bring to four the survivors saved from a Quebec Airways twin engine plane crash. The six remaining on the floe include one missing passenger and one rescued earlier by amphibian plane.

Holiday Death Toll Now 301

A United Press survey reports at least 266 people died nationwide during the Christmas period, with 193 from highway accidents. The National Safety Council warned the toll could reach 300, as future deaths from injuries are counted. Lone Woman Bandit Robs St. Louis Bank

A 35 year old woman in a brown fur coat robbed United Bank & Trust Co. in St. Louis, taking about $582 from a teller after threatening with a blue steel pistol. About 40 customers were in the lobby when the holdup occurred. The bandit fled, described as tall and slender, and the teller, Robert S. Walden, 27, war veteran, said he was shaken but complied.

Two Runaway Boys Face Trial For Slaying Policeman

Two 15 year old runaways, Aaron Gore Jr and Keith Donald, face a hearing in Philadelphia on charges of fatally slaying Patrolman Henry J. after authorities say the officer tried to help them return to their families for Christmas. The youths, handcuffed together, were described as sons of a Army captain and an electrical engineer respectively.

Slaying During Kid Homeward Run In Police Station District

In a Tuesday incident, Hicks 39, father of six, was killed while guiding youths toward a nearby station. Gore grabbed a policeman’s revolver after taking the officer’s gun and ordered a ransom for the youths. Hicks tried to disarm Gore, who fired twice as the officer pleaded for restraint. Donaldson was accused of clubbing the officer.
