Boxing's blueprint for a Louis killer from Ray Arcel
Today’s Sport Parade profiles trainer Ray Arcel and his fictional blueprint for a rival who could defeat Joe Louis. Arcel, nicknamed the “meat wagon,” imagines a 23 year old, 5'11", 180–185 pound fighter with a lethal left hook, stamina, speed, and killer instinct. He suggests Jack Dempsey of 1922 as the closest real match and notes boxing’s unpredictability between Louis and Dempsey across eras.
