The Messiah Pleases Amarillo Audience at Municipal

The Messiah by Handel delighted a small Amarillo audience at the municipal auditorium with over one hundred participants. Emil F. Myers conducted, Lila Austin Myers played piano, and a ten-piece orchestra supported seven soloists including Rollin Pease from Chicago. Local solos drew strong praise, with mention of Miss Helen Strite and Miss Miriam Canfield on violin and cornet for Miss Ellen May. Donations came from the City, the Globe-News, Panhandle Laundry, Russell & Cockrell, and Empire Sign Co. Plans include annual performances at Christmas and a May rendition of The Creation by the chorus.
