Paper Sack Shortage Hits Amarillo Grocers Hard
Amarillo grocers report a severe paper bag shortage with no 500 bag bundles available from suppliers. Jobbers say allocations are based on 1942 shipments, with about half wood pulp diverted to war needs and the rest to civilian use. Households are urged to bring their own containers as stock remains sparse across the city. The article notes labor shortages at mills slow pulp extraction and notes government wartime removals. The American game of poker was originally known as Brag, or Bluff.
