The Kansas City Special derailed after a head on collision with a freight train on the main line near Portia Arkansas. Both engines were overturned and two mail cars plus a baggage car derailed amid overturned livestock cars.

The banquet is set for Friday night January 6 at the Herring Hotel with Joseph Leopold of Dallas delivering the principal address.
A 16 year old girl testified against William Hudson Speers a musician and religious group member on a statutory charge. The witness described meeting Speers at church and at a grocery store rear apartments she visited with him. Cross examination touched on her conduct before meeting Speers as defense sought. The weather bureau warns Amarillo of a cold wave arriving tonight with temperatures near 10 degrees above freezing and partly cloudy skies. Snow is forecast for the Rocky Mountain region but not expected to reach this area.
