Two Billion in Claims Before Court of Claims
The court of claims opens a new term facing nearly two billion dollars in World War I related claims against the government. From 1921 to 1926 the docket grew from 733 cases to about 2,000, with totals reaching 1.216 billion. The term just ended saw 1,448 suits decided totaling 70.38 million, including diverse claims from a stamp book inventor to torpedo and radio device disputes. Some defendants won, others paid, and the Treasury gained about 600 thousand from counterclaims.
